27 youths from Rukungiri Municipality on Thursday, August 22, 2024, traveled to Kabale to receive six months of free training in various skills.

They will be enrolled at Kabale Industrial Hub, a presidential initiative located in Kamuganguzi Sub County along Kabale-Katuna Road, to provide free training in building, welding and metal fabrication, hairdressing and salon management, tailoring, leather and shoemaking, carpentry, bakery, and more, to the disadvantaged.

Fortunate Ninsiima, one of the beneficiaries, praised the government for the opportunity and expressed enthusiasm to concentrate and secure a future job for income generation.

Emmy Turyabagyenyi, the Municipal Councilor representing people with disabilities, commended the government for giving hope to the hopeless and urged youth with disabilities to apply in large numbers to acquire skills for self-sustainability.

Perry Owoyesigire, the Rukungiri Municipal Council Commercial Officer, encouraged them to stay focused and not waste government funds.

Omuntu Zadoch, the Assistant Town Clerk of Rukungiri Municipal Council, cautioned them to avoid earthly distractions that may divert them.

Bernard Baryabawe, the Deputy Mayor of Rukungiri Municipal Council, who presided over the flag-off, challenged the youth to prioritize skills for ready jobs and development.
