Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of 26 years old Elias Twesigye a resident of Kajumera cell Katonya parish Nyakishenyi sub county Rukungiri district, who was allegedly stabbed by Augustine Turyahebwa Alias Turyatunga 20 years of Rwangura cell Katonya parish Nyakishenyi sub county Rukungiri district.
Elly Maate The Kigezi region Police spokesman says that on 22/02/2023, at about 11:00 PM at Omukarere trading center Nyakishenyi, the decease together with a friend Julius Mukene entered into the bar belonging to the suspect while carrying pangas that they were using at their places of work.
After entering therein, they ordered a glass of waragi, the bar owner told them that wasn’t going to serve them more waragi unless they hand over the pangas in their possession and which they did.
At a later time when they asked for their pangas to leave, the bar owner refused to give them back.
Julius Mukene himself left the bar but the deceased remained in the bar demanding his panga.
At around midnight, one Byamukama Bosco the biological father of Augustine Turyahebwa while in bed heard a big bang on his door and the voice was of his son Augustine calling him and telling him that he had just killed Twesigye the son of Kareho in his own bar at Omukarere trading center.
The police of Nyakishenyi were notified by one Jackline Twebaze, the scene was visited and examined, a postmortem was done and the suspect was arrested to help police in investigations.
