Youth were implored to prioritize supporting community-based associations for the benefit of mental health and social connection.
The call was made on Sunday 28th December 2025, by Ms. Jolly Bugari, a public health specialist based in San Francisco, California, and a native of Kebisoni Town Council in Rukungiri District. She was officiating at the Sports Day of Kebisoni Tumanyane Group (KTG), a community-based charity organization operating in Greater Kebisoni. The event took place at Mutaturwa Playground in Nyeibingo Parish, Kebisoni Sub-county.
Kebisoni Tumanyane Group organizes an annual Sports Day every Christmas season, rotating among parishes in both Kebisoni Town Council and Kebisoni Sub-county.
Activities for the day included a camp at Rwabihurwa Primary School, interactive sessions, drama performances by members, and evening football matches featuring teams of under-40 and above-40 age categories.
Ms. Bugari reiterated her vision of promoting youth mental health through the under-construction Skilling Centre at Rumbugu Trading Centre in Kebisoni Town Council. She said the center will focus on skilling, screening, and mentoring youth into productive livelihoods to enhance resilience and mental well-being. She urged young people to actively support community-based associations as platforms for interaction, mental rejuvenation, and building strong social networks.
The Chairperson of Kebisoni Tumanyane Group, Lion Justus Magingo, called upon residents of Greater Kebisoni to support the association, which he said is committed to giving back to the community through supporting the needy, establishing public projects, and providing solidarity and welfare support to its members.
Frank Mabwa, the Vice Chairperson LC3 of Kebisoni Sub-county and NRM Flag Bearer Chairperson LC3 candidate in the upcoming general elections, commended KTG for partnering with government in promoting development. He highlighted several achievements, including the construction of a passenger shade at Kebisoni Stage, establishment of safe and clean water sources, and provision of health equipment to public health facilities.
