Police in Sheema District are currently searching for unidentified perpetrators who sexually assaulted, robbed, and abducted a 26-year-old woman. The incident occurred on the evening of May 5th, 2024, around 10:00 PM, in Kagari village, Kitagata town council.

Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi police, confirmed the incident and identified the victim as Patience Nahwera, a 26-year-old cashier residing in Kitagata Central, Marembo Ward, Kitagata Town Council, Sheema District.

According to Tumusiime, the victim departed from Mbarara city around 7:30 PM on May 5th, 2024, heading towards Kitagata. She arrived in Ishaaka at approximately 9:00 PM.

Tumusiime explained that the victim boarded a motorcycle taxi (boda boda) whose rider claimed to have space for one additional passenger as they were heading in the same direction. However, upon reaching Kitabi, the rider stated that the fuel was depleted and stopped to refuel. After a short distance, he mentioned that a fuel vendor was located off the main road near his home.

Subsequently, the rider diverted from the main road and halted the motorcycle after a brief distance into a eucalyptus forest. At this point, the passenger behind the victim seized her and demanded money. Despite the victim’s assertion of not having any money, both assailants brandished knives from their jackets and threatened her life.

While one of the assailants remained on the motorcycle, the other dragged the victim further into the eucalyptus forest and sexually assaulted her.
