The Venerable Amos Katushabe has been installed as the pioneer archdeacon of the newly created St. Peter’s Kyabugashe Archdeaconry in North Kigezi Diocese. The installation service was held at St. Peter’s Kyabugashe Church, where Bishop Onesmus Asiimwe of the North Kigezi Diocese called on the clergy to remain focused on the foundation of Christ, urging them to leave politics aside and prioritize the preaching of the Gospel.

Bishop Onesmus emphasized that God’s reward comes to those who serve faithfully, encouraging the clergy to be good shepherds and live by example. He also reminded the congregation to take personal responsibility for their actions and to strive for perfection, knowing that every sin has consequences.

In his remarks, Mugisha Amos, head of laity at St. Peter’s Kyabugashe Archdeaconry, expressed gratitude to the Bishop for establishing the archdeaconry, which he said was a long-standing need. He also highlighted plans to build a church, pay the diocesan quarter, and expand coffee farming as part of the church’s development.

Ven. Amos Katushabe, the newly installed archdeacon, thanked God for the opportunity to serve and expressed deep gratitude to Bishop Onesmus for sending him back to his home area. He also thanked the Christians of Kyabugashe for their love and support during his wife’s hospitalization, assuring them of his commitment to working tirelessly to see Kyabugashe Archdeaconry grow to greater heights.

The guest of honor, Major General Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County and Minister for Security, commended the clergy for their partnership with the government in educating the public on poverty alleviation programs, including the Parish Development Model (PDM). He urged Ven. Amos Katushabe to continue preaching the Gospel while also teaching the people ways to overcome poverty and work together for sustainable development.

The service was attended by a large congregation, and the new Archdeacon’s leadership is expected to bring significant growth and development to the Kyabugashe Archdeaconry.
