Police in Kabale are currently investigating an incident where two rifles were stolen from guards at Kabale Microfinance, only to be later found within the same building.

According to reports, on the 20th of November 2023, around 01:30hrs, a group of five unidentified individuals broke into Pride Microfinance Bank. They made off with two SR-guns along with 14 rounds of ammunition, which belonged to Saracen.

The perpetrators also made an unsuccessful attempt to break into the bank’s safe before being intercepted and fleeing the scene. Subsequently, a report of aggravated robbery was filed by one of the guards, Bategana Estafano, aged 38.

The Homicide team, led by Deputy Inspector Magara Richard, visited the scene and obtained statements from relevant witnesses. Interestingly, during the investigation, the two stolen guns were recovered within the bank building, along with 9 rounds of ammunition.

To aid in the ongoing investigation, the guard who reported the incident is being held for questioning. Further inquiries are underway to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the theft and the subsequent discovery of the firearms within the bank premises.
