Today morning, 12th March 2026, residents in partnership with locals in Kazinga Cell, Bunono Parish, Nyarushanje Subcounty, Rukungiri District, arrested a 20-year-old woman, Agnes Amumpeire, accused of luring underage schoolgirls into prostitution and bar waitress opportunities in Rubaare Town, Ntungamo District.
Reports confirm that the campaign was led by the area Chairperson LC1, Mr. Nebye Willy, who partnered with affected parents whose schoolgirls had been targeted. Mr. Nebye stated that after exposing the girl’s activities on Boona FM, some locals noticed her hiding, apparently planning to reclaim stolen clothing and lure more girls. Furious parents and community members intercepted and arrested her on the spot. She is currently being taken to Nyarushanje Subcounty headquarters, with the intention of detaining her.
Agnes is reported to have already lured five schoolgirls, all underage, into prostitution and bar work. Parents and locals are calling for the girls to be returned to school to continue their education and secure their futures.
One of the affected parents, Juuku Julius, whose daughter was among those lured, told Boona Radio that the arrest has given them leverage to recover their children. He added that they now know the exact locations where the girls are being kept and are coordinating with Nyarushanje Police to safely bring them back home.
