The Territorial Police in Kabale are investigating the circumstances surrounding the lynching of two unidentified adult males. The incident occurred on 26th September 2024, at approximately 08:30 AM in Kaliba village, Kaharo Parish/Sub-county, Kabale District.

It is reported that, on the night of 25th September 2024, three individuals allegedly stole from a moving lorry at Kabaraga Hill. They waited for transportation with the stolen goods until about 07:30 AM when locals became suspicious. Upon being questioned by the community, the individuals failed to explain their presence in Kabaraga and could not account for the property in their possession. When they attempted to flee, the locals gave chase and caught two of them in Kaliba village, where they were beaten to death.

The OC of Kaharo Police Station was alerted and immediately registered the case as murder by mob. The District CID Officer in Kabale, along with the homicide team and District SOCO, responded to the scene. The bodies were retrieved and taken to Kabale Referral Hospital mortuary for examination.

The public is warned against stealing from moving trucks, as this may result in severe consequences, including being dealt with by the law. Anyone missing a loved one is advised to visit the hospital mortuary for identification and to arrange for a proper burial. Investigations are ongoing.
