Rose Mpiriirwe, an 80-year-old woman from Katungu Kigaaga, Nyakinengo Parish, Nyakajeme Sub-county, Rukungiri District, is pleading for assistance as she lives in a severely dilapidated house with no regular access to food or care.

Speaking to Boona FM, Rose shared the challenges she faces living alone, struggling to find food, and depending solely on villagers’ goodwill. She revealed that her husband passed away many years ago, and having only daughters who are now married, she has no one to help her with daily tasks or provide for her.

She expressed that she rarely has enough to eat and relies on sporadic visits from kind-hearted neighbors. Rose is appealing to well-wishers for assistance in rebuilding her house, as the one she currently lives in is in a critical condition, putting her life at risk.

Norah Sabiiti, the LC2 Chairperson of Nyakinengo Parish, confirmed Rose’s dire situation, noting that the elderly woman lacks proper care and support. Due to the absence of someone to assist her, Rose even missed out on receiving government aid under the Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment (SAGE) program, to which she is entitled.

Norah also appeals to well-wishers to step forward and help build Rose a safer home, as her current residence is dangerously unstable.

For those willing to offer assistance, please reach out via 0789918603 (in the name of Norah Sabiiti).
