A fraudster who scammed two businessmen in Rukungiri municipality by selling them stolen motor vehicles was finally arrested from Kyenjojo district where he was hiding.
The suspect Nuwabeine Innocent who has been faking his name Nomwesigwa Moses is alleged to have stolen one motor vehicle Harrier type registration, number UBN 718V which he sold in Kyenjojo district and two Toyota Wish cars from Mbarara was arrested and charged with three counts of impersonation, obtaining money by false pretense and theft by Kyenjojo police under reference number 45/01/07/2023 and he is currently held at Kyenjojo police station pending transportation to Mbarara and Rukungiri where he committed the crimes.
According to information obtained, the suspect scammed the Proprietor of Moses Investments and Keneth all businessmen dealing in used motorcycles after selling them Toyota Harrier UBL 977S and Toyota Wish UBB 975B respectively which he stole between June and July 2023.
The two vehicles were tracked by police and have been at Rukungiri district Central Police Station as police tried to apprehend the suspect.
Police revealed that the suspect had been conniving with a car dealer from Rukungir known as Akankwasa Geoffery a.k.a Jakode to sell the stolen cars in western Uganda.
After investigations, the two cars that are currently parked at Rukungiri central police station will be handed over to the first owners and the suspect will be aligned in the courts of law to answer the charges against him in addition to refunding the two businessmen he conned.
