Two individuals have been apprehended by authorities in Sheema District on suspicion of obstructing government initiatives.

The incident occurred on May 15, 2024, in Nyakashambya cell, Kyarukunda ward, Bugongi town council, Sheema District. Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the occurrence and identified the suspects as Beatrice Bashemerirwe, aged 56, and Justin Bahumwire, aged 70, both residing in Bugongi, Sheema District.

According to reports, during the census operation, enumerators visited the residences of the two suspects to conduct the census, but they refused to participate, citing religious beliefs associated with Engiri, claiming it prohibited them from being counted.

The case of obstructing government programs has been registered at Sheema Central Police Station, with ongoing investigations into the matter.
