The People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) candidate for Rujumbura County, Fred Turyamuhweza, has filed a petition challenging the outcome of the recently concluded parliamentary elections in Rujumbura county, Rukungiri District, citing alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

Turyamuhweza is contesting the victory of Jim Muhwezi, a retired Major General and candidate of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), who was declared winner after securing 25,007 votes against Turyamuhweza’s 23,307.

The petition was officially on Wednesday filed at the High Court in Rukungiri at around 4:00 PM, with Turyamuhweza accompanied by a group of his supporters. He alleges that several irregularities occurred during the election, which he believes significantly impacted the final results.

Despite the declared outcome, Turyamuhweza remains confident in the judicial process and expressed optimism that the court will deliver a fair and just ruling.

Boona FM will continue to monitor and report on the progress of the case as it unfolds.
