As the country intensifies preparations for the forthcoming general elections, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Rukungiri District has today officially nominated Tumuhimbise Isaac as the party flag bearer for the position of Mayor, Rukungiri Municipality.
The nomination exercise took place at the NRM office in Rukungiri where Mugarura Kiiza Jackson, the district NRM registrar, formally declared Isaac’s nomination as valid.
Speaking shortly after the process, Tumuhimbise Isaac confirmed his official nomination and pledged to work tirelessly in addressing the challenges affecting the municipality.
“I commit myself to improve the security situation, enhance infrastructure development especially roads, promote gender equality, and improve sanitation standards within the town,” he stated. “As mayor, I will ensure effective supervision of both local and central government projects to benefit the people of Rukungiri.”
Tumuhimbise also expressed gratitude to his supporters and team who have stood by him throughout the registration and nomination process. He emphasized his notable contribution to the establishment and growth of Team University’s Rukungiri ODEL Centre, which has extended education services to learners from various parts of the district and the country, aiding the Ministry of Education’s efforts to expand access to learning.
He further appealed to residents of Rukungiri Municipality to embrace cooperation, stressing that unity among citizens is crucial for the development of the town. He noted that increased population in towns and cities brings opportunities for business growth and prosperity through the expansion of services and infrastructure.
Tumuhimbise concluded by calling on voters to entrust him with their votes in the upcoming elections, promising dedicated leadership aimed at transforming Rukungiri Municipality into a cleaner, more secure, and economically vibrant urban center.
