Police in Kabale are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a student, with two others sustaining injuries after reportedly being struck by a speeding motorcycle.
The incident took place on 02/03/2024 around 05:30 AM at Mwanjari along Kabale Katuna Road. The motorcycle involved is described as a red Bajaj Boxer with registration number UEF703E. The rider, identified as ARIHO ERIAB, a 24-year-old Mukiga from Kashambya in Rukiga district, is currently admitted at Kabale Regional Hospital.
The deceased, Rukundo Blear, aged 20 and a student at Kabale Trinity College in Form 6, was one of the pedestrians fatally injured. The other two victims, Arinda Emanuel and Ankunda Bright, both 19-year-old students at Kabale Trinity College, sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment at Kabale Regional Hospital.
According to reports, the motorcycle was traveling from Kabale town towards Mwanjari at a high speed. As it approached Kabale Quality Primary School, it collided with a group of Trinity College Kabale students who were jogging along the right side of the road towards Kabale town from Mwanjari.
After the collision, all victims were promptly rushed to Kabale Regional Hospital, where Rukundo Blear succumbed to his injuries two hours after admission.
The scene has been investigated by Asp Mucunguzi and his team. The suspect rider remains admitted at the hospital under police guard. Postmortem procedures have been completed, and the police are actively searching for the whereabouts of the motorcycle.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
