The OC Traffic Rukungiri, ASP Sabiiti Patrick, has reiterated plans to arrest boda boda riders who engage in reckless riding during and after campaign rallies.

Speaking on 22nd November 2025 at a one-day training workshop organized by Pure Flow Initiative in Godown Street, Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, ASP Sabiiti urged riders to prioritize road safety and security.

The workshop, aimed at educating motorcycle riders on road and personal safety, covered topics including adherence to road signs, proper dressing code, motorcycle maintenance, safe loading, road condition awareness, and collaboration with traffic officers.

“Riders must be security conscious, prioritize their welfare, install security cameras at their stages, and avoid reckless riding, especially during the ongoing campaigns,” Sabiiti warned, emphasizing that offenders would be arrested after the elections.

Lawrence Nasasira, Director of Pure Flow Initiative, Rukungiri Branch, welcomed the participants and said the workshop was intended to equip riders with knowledge to ensure safety while achieving their goals.

Julius Kakuru, Chairperson of Nyabikuuku Stage, commended the initiative for challenging riders to ride responsibly and care for their families.

Rukungiri District has recorded 34 motorcycle accidents so far this year, highlighting the importance of road safety training for boda boda riders.
