Police in Mbarara City successfully intercepted 10 buses carrying 823 suspected victims of human trafficking during a joint intelligence-led operation on the night of 21 November 2025. The buses — belonging to Tausi, KR Coaches, Bapakasi, Jamah Express, and Savanah — were stopped at the Biharwe checkpoint and escorted to CPS Mbarara.
The rescued group comprised 441 males and 376 females. Many reported being deceived by agents of Alliance in Motion Global, who allegedly promised job opportunities in Mbarara at fees of up to UGX 1.5 million per person. They were reportedly being transported to Kampala for a company event at Freedom City.
Police cautioned the victims and facilitated their return home as investigations continue.
SP Kasasira Samson, PRO Rwizi, commended the teamwork that led to the safe rescue of hundreds from potential exploitation.
