Traders operating in Omukaceeka Trading Center in Northern A Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality have suspended their members, John Baguma and his wife Airen Kyomuhendo, known as Aisha, for causing disturbances in the area.

John Baguma, 62 years old, a resident of Itembezo, Kanungu District, and Airen Kyomuhendo, known as Aisha, a resident of Kabingo in Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District, met in Kaceeka Trading Center and jointly owned a bar. Their problematic behavior had troubled the area.

The decision to suspend them was made on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, during a security meeting held in Kaceeka Trading Center. The meeting was organized by Area Councilor Behimbisa Topher Science and Chairperson LC1 Richard Twesigye, and was chaired by Afande Patrick Muhangi of Bwooma Police Post.

Traders discussed the issues caused by John and Aisha, including failure to present introductory letters, excessive alcohol consumption, domestic violence, and assaulting neighbors. Notably, on September 12, 2024, John Baguma poured feces and attacked Stephen Kasiisi, 65 years old, the Chairperson of Traders, with a panga, in response to an alarm raised by Aisha.

John and Aisha have been given two days to vacate the trading center.

Aisha welcomed the decision, stating that the meeting was a dream come true as she had been praying for a peaceful separation from John Baguma, whom she had tolerated for too long.

John Baguma denied the allegations and accepted the decision to leave the trading center, as he felt he had no other option.

Richard Twesigye, the LC1 Chairperson, expressed relief at the eviction and called on locals to enhance vigilance and management of wrongdoers.

Behimbisa Topher Science, the Area Division Councilor, also expressed relief and assured continued efforts to address issues related to non-introductory letters and wrongdoers in the area.

Councilors Atananzio Karuhura and Emmy Turyabagyenyi condemned alcohol abuse and encouraged stricter enforcement of introductory letter requirements by leaders.

Bernard Turyabawe, the Deputy Mayor of Rukungiri Municipal Council, praised the meeting for addressing crime issues and advocated for regular follow-up meetings.

Afande Patrick Muhangi of Bwooma Police Post urged landlords to collaborate with local leaders to scrutinize introductory letters to manage crimes effectively and assured that necessary patrols would be conducted in the area.
