The business community in Nyakyera town council Ruhama East Ntungamo district has been terrorized by thugs who have resorted to breaking into their shops with the purpose of looting them.
Led by Amon Natweta, a mechanic from the same area, the recent incident happened Thursday night when the thugs attacked the area raiding shop items worth millions of money.
The places that were attacked include Omukatoogo Trading Center and Nyakyera Town Council where the thugs raided more than 7 homes.Among the victims is Twesigye Dickson whose Electronics Shop was looted last night leaving him crying foul.
According to the victims, the thugs break into their houses by breaking the windows and removing the bricks among other tactics.
These incidents have been attributed to idleness among the youth who want to spend most of their time smoking marijuana and other drugs and have resorted to breaking into people’s businesses and homes to steal.
They also alleged that Security relaxed in carrying out patrols which is fuelling theft in the area and asked the security department to revamp security patrols to help end this growing habit.
Speaking to our reporter, Nganwa Kenneth Rubatuhura the Nyakyera Town Council mayor confirmed the incident and promised to follow up on the matter and have the suspects apprehended.
