Residents of Buhunga on Friday morning woke up in shock to the bad news of their fellow who was attacked by a man in his 30s believed to be mentally ill who chopped a woman and left her in a coma and later died on her way to the hospital.
The victim has been identified as Ahumuza Enid, a resident of Rwabwingi B, Buhunga parish, Buhunga sub-county Rukungiri district who was attacked by Silver Ntitiri believed to be mentally ill and from the same address.
After doing this evil act, residents led by family members of the deceased descended on the suspect and smashed him to death.
According to the locals, the cause of the attack has not yet been established but is yet to be verified.
Information revealed to our reporter is that the suspect, who is also the deceased now, was accusing Enid of being behind his mental illness though police are yet to release the official reporter.
By the time of filing this story, police were at the scene of the crime pending retrieval of the body for postmortem, and inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
