In Rukiga District, the territorial police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of 47-year-old Peruth Tumuraze, a resident of Kateramabale Cell, Kyogo Parish, Kamwezi Sub-county.
The suspects—Ivan Bangirana, Kenneth Muzoora, and Geoffrey Kemerwa—are all residents of the same area as the victim. According to reports, Tumuraze was last seen on August 3, 2024, around 4:00 PM, after having domestic issues with her husband, Ivan Bangirana. Her body was discovered on August 8, 2024, at approximately 7:30 AM in a banana plantation owned by Geoffrey Kemerwa, about 800 meters from her home.
The police were alerted by Darius Asimwe, and the scene was promptly investigated. Evidence collected includes a panga found at the scene. The victim’s body displayed bruises on the head and neck, as well as a deep wound on the back of the head. A postmortem examination was conducted at Kamwezi Health Center IV.
The three suspects have been taken into custody to assist with the ongoing investigation.
