Thousands of mourners gathered in Rwabigangura Cell, Kebisoni Subcounty, Rukungiri District, to pay their final respects to the late Charles Mutatiina Salongo, who passed away at the age of 61.
Leading the send-off ceremony, Venerable Andrew Kananura of Kakinga Archdeaconry reminded mourners that death is inevitable, but dying in Christ is what God desires for everyone. He urged attendees to live faithfully, help those in need, and prepare for the day of judgment, noting that the grace of God is sufficient for all.
In a heartfelt tribute, the children of the late Mutatiina, led by Liberty Mutatina Twesigye, praised their father for his hard work and dedication, which shaped them into who they are today. They emphasized his love for teamwork and pledged to uphold his values and continue his legacy.
The late Salongo’s wife, Nalongo Beatrace Mutatiina, thanked the church and community for their support during this difficult time. She highlighted their 36-year marriage, describing her husband as a loving and hardworking man who invested in development projects, teaching their family the importance of diligence. She also thanked the children for uniting in honoring their father’s memory.
Friends of the late Mutatiina, including Rauben Kabaabo and Kasigaire Milton, remembered him as a loyal friend who valued hard work and cherished relationships. They encouraged young people to honor their parents while they are alive and to safeguard friendships even in times of disagreement. They also urged the children to continue their father’s legacy.
Representing the government, NRM Kebisoni Town Council Chairman Akampa Rugaba appealed to the community to demand services from their leaders rather than seeking monetary favors, now that the election season is over.
Charles Mutatiina Salongo succumbed to a heart attack, leaving behind eight children and twelve grandchildren.
