Despite relentless rain showers drenching Kanungu throughout the night and into the eventful day, thousands of enthusiastic spectators defied the inclement weather to witness the grand inauguration of the highly anticipated Dr. Baryomunsi Cup 2024 at the Kanungu District Playground.
Honorable Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, esteemed Kikinzi East Member of Parliament and incumbent Minister of ICT and National Guidance, along with his esteemed colleagues, spearheaded the launch of the Dr. Baryomunsi Cup 2024, an event slated to take place at the parish level.
The electrifying ceremony, which attracted multitudes from Kinkizi East and beyond, was graced by prominent figures in Ugandan politics. Notable dignitaries such as Dr. Balaam Barugahara, state minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Lydia Wanyoto Mutende, the National NRM Women’s League chairperson, and Hon Godfrey Ssuubi Kiwand, the NRM vice Chairperson for the Central Region, lent their presence to the auspicious occasion.
Amidst the jubilant atmosphere, a plethora of engaging activities marked the launch, captivating the hearts and minds of all in attendance. The highlight of the day culminated in a thrilling football match between Rujumbura Constituency and Kinkizi East, showcasing the raw talent and competitive spirit inherent in the district.
In an exhilarating showdown, Rujumbura Constituency emerged victorious 4:1 in a football match with Kinkizi East, seizing the admiration of the crowd for their impressive performance on the field.
