South Ankole diocese Bishop Rt Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe says Christians being abused in Pentecostal churches deserve the torture for abandoning their childhood sects and opting for those they don’t understand.

Preaching on Sunday during a confirmation service at St Mathew Cathedral Kyamate, Bishop Ahimbisibwe said it was absurd that people were escaping from traditional churches where they are baptized and confirmed into faith and being misled by such churches where they find abusers.

He said while the church would be a great place for counseling, solace, and healing, people are being tortured instead

He castigated the leaders of new churches who imitated the old faith leaders in dressing and works saying this simple envious admiration for what they do should never be taken for granted.

320 Christians especially students were confirmed at the Cathedral marking the end of an over 5 moths drive that saw over 10,000 Christians confirmed across the diocese.

A video of a Pentecostal church pastor flogging members of his church in Hoima city went viral. Several other recorded incidences of pastors canning believers and doing other extremes have been viral. The Anglican church and catholic churches whom these pastors at times imitate have kept mute over the Pentecostal churches’ behavior over guise for freedom of worship.

Speaking to Christians, The Bishops  wife Ms Lillian Ahimbisibwe called on the youth to keep faithful to God avoid promiscuity, Drugs, homosexuality, pornography. She said the current generation is at great risk of collapse if the irresponsible life they live is not tamed.
