Three individuals from different constituencies were each given a heavy wooden cross by their master to carry on a long journey toward a distant, shared destination. The size and weight of each cross differed, based on their strength and potential.

As the journey grew harder, two of them began to complain. Feeling the burden was too much, they secretly trimmed their crosses to make them easier to carry. The third person, though equally tired, chose to carry theirs without alteration, believing there was a reason for the weight.

After a long and difficult trek, the three finally reached the edge of a wide, dangerous river that stood between them and a beautiful land full of peace, wealth, and happiness.

It was then that the master’s purpose was revealed: the cross each person had carried was meant to serve as a bridge across the river.

The one who had carried the full cross laid it down and safely crossed to the other side. The two who had cut theirs short tried the same, but their crosses couldn’t reach the other bank. They were swept away by the river’s strong current—never reaching the land of promise.

Moral of this piece:
Endure your cross. Don’t cut it short. What seems like a burden now may be your only bridge later.

As for me, I’m carrying mine. The closure of Boona FM 91.8 feels like a heavy cross—these four days have felt like a 50-year journey. But I choose to carry it to the end.

The good news? I am not alone. The words of comfort from many of you are the strength beneath my steps.

Let each of us carry the full weight of our cross. We may not understand now—but purpose is often revealed at the riverbank.
