Police in Kisoro District are investigating the murder of 43-year-old Sylvia Nyirandagije, a resident of Masaka Village, Nyakabingo Parish, Chahi Sub-County.
The deceased went missing on 15th December 2025 under unknown circumstances. Her body was discovered two days later, on 17th December, in a hole at Bihanga Village, Nyakabingo Parish, by a passerby who had stopped briefly by the roadside between Iryaruhuri Trading Center and Kisoro Town.
The passerby immediately alerted other residents, including the Bihanga Village Chairperson, Nteziyaremye Jackson, and the Masaka Village LC I Chairman, Habyara William.
Police visited the scene, documented the incident, and retrieved the body, which was then taken to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination. Preliminary observations indicate the deceased sustained injuries, and a piece of cloth was tied around her neck.
Police confirmed that no prior report of her disappearance had been made by relatives. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
