Drama ensued yesterday at Nyakishenyi sub-county headquarters after councilors stormed the office of the sub-county chief over the delay of Ex-gratia money.
Ex gratia money is the golden handshake that councilors are entitled to receive from the government every month as a token of appreciation for their services.
Councilors from the 9 parishes that make up Nyakishenyi sub-county on Friday midday, stormed the office of the sub-county chief demanding an explanation on why the government has delayed to release their ex-gratia after realizing that other sub-counties have already received the funds.
A fight broke out after the chairperson lc3 Nyakishenyi sub-county WednesdayTwinomujuni tried to block councilors from attacking the sub-county chief saying that though other sub-counties have received the funds, Nyakishenyi has not yet received the money.
The sub-county speaker Asimwe Lovance was slapped in the altercation as tempers flared
Tempers only cooled after the lc3 boss and the sub-county chief Tumushabe Robert produced money to pay the councilors as they wait for government releases.
