Police in Rukungiri District have arrested two teenage suspects in connection with the murder of 14-year-old student Twinamatsiko Kam, a resident of Nyarurambi Cell, Kasheshe Parish in Buyanja Sub County.
According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the tragic incident occurred on the evening of November 7, 2025, at around 8:00 PM. Twinamatsiko was reportedly attacked together with his friend Edwin Niwenyesiga by two boys identified as Muhumuza George (14) and Akanyijuka Eden (16), who were allegedly armed with a panga. The suspects accused the deceased of calling them pig thieves before attacking him, cutting him on the head.
Niwenyesiga managed to escape and alerted the deceased’s relatives, who rushed Twinamatsiko to Nyakibale Hospital. He was later referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital but unfortunately died on the way.
The case was reported by the victim’s father, Turinawe Kam, at Buyanja Police Station. Police visited and documented the scene, and the body was examined. The two suspects have since been arrested to assist with ongoing investigations.
ASP Maate condemned the act and urged parents and community leaders to guide children on resolving conflicts peacefully rather than resorting to violence.
Investigations continue.
