The territorial police in Kisoro are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Nsenga John, a 64-year-old resident of Kinanira Cell, Central Ward, Mupaka Town Council, Kisoro District. He was allegedly murdered by his 17-year-old biological son, Ntwari Jay.

According to reports, on Saturday, 1st February 2025, Nsenga John hosted visitors at his home and bought one and a half kilograms of meat, which his wife, Niringiyimana Brandinah, prepared and served. The meat was fully consumed that day. However, on Sunday, 2nd February 2025, around noon, Nsenga’s wife prepared beans, Irish potatoes, and matoke for the family. When she served her husband, he refused to eat, insisting that he wanted meat. Despite his wife’s explanation that the meat had been finished the previous day, he refused to understand and instead poured away the food he had been served.

At that moment, their son, Ntwari Jay, returned home from fetching water at the well. Upon arrival, he found his father quarreling. When Ntwari put down the jerrycan, his father attacked him with a panga, demanding to know where the meat was. In the altercation, Nsenga John used the panga to cut and injure his son on the ear. In response, Ntwari picked up a stick and struck his father on the head before fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, Nsenga John rushed to Mupaka Border Police Post and reported his son for assault. He was issued a police medical form for examination and proceeded to Kinanira Health Centre III for medical attention. However, upon arrival, he collapsed and was immediately transferred to Mutolere Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect, Ntwari Jay, has since been arrested. Upon completion of investigations, he will be presented before the courts of law to face appropriate charges.

Investigations are ongoing.
