Students have been encouraged to follow the example of Saint Joseph in preserving their faith and working towards their dreams. This message was delivered during celebrations for St. Joseph’s Day, which also recognized the outstanding performance of St. Joseph Katojo Primary School in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations.

Every year on March 19, Catholics worldwide commemorate Saint Joseph’s Day in honor of the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the legal father of Jesus Christ. According to the Bible, Angel Gabriel revealed to Joseph that he would become the earthly father of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit.

During a Holy Mass at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish in Buyanja Town Council, Rukungiri District, the parish priest and chaplain, Rev. Fr. Chrispino Mubangizi, described Joseph as an obedient man who embraced his responsibilities. He urged students to emulate his character.

Fr. Mubangizi emphasized the importance of remaining strong in faith through prayer and reconciliation, especially during this Lenten season. He also reflected on St. Joseph’s dream, in which an angel advised him to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt for safety, highlighting Joseph’s deep love and protective role.

He encouraged students to set meaningful goals for their future, noting that St. Joseph Katojo Primary School serves as a foundation for achieving their dreams through faith and prayer.

Meanwhile, the headteacher of St. Joseph Katojo Primary School, George Birungi, expressed gratitude for the school’s remarkable performance in the 2024 PLE results. He attributed this success to the teamwork of the school board, PTA, parents, management, and students.

On her part, Nema Jane, chairperson of the school management committee, thanked Fr. Chrispino Mubangizi for leading the special Mass and commended the dedication of the teaching and non-teaching staff, saying their commitment has put the school on the map.

The guest of honor, Ngashaga Anxious, the Senior Education Officer of Rukungiri District, applauded parents for trusting the school and acknowledged the students’ discipline, which has contributed to improved academic performance.

He noted that collaboration among students, parents, teachers, and the school board has driven the school’s success in both academics and co-curricular activities. Ngashaga encouraged students to uphold the school’s values, take pride in their institution, and appreciate the support of their parents and teachers.
