Kinombe–Nyaruzzinga Construction Company Limited was on Wednesday contracted to carry out renovation works worth 399 million shillings at St. Gerald’s Secondary School, Nyakibale.
According to Agaba Cleophas, the Head Teacher of St. Gerald’s Secondary School, the buildings to be renovated include the administration block, the Senior Four classroom block, the computer laboratory, the school store, and the science laboratory.
Cleophas emphasized the sorry state in which the school buildings had been, hailing the Government of the Republic of Uganda for remembering them and offering support.
He said the school had requested for 2 billion shillings but has so far received 399 million, hence the decision to begin with renovation works.
Cleophas added that he will personally oversee the renovation process to ensure quality work is done.
Nshabire Godfrey, the Director of Kinombe–Nyaruzzinga Construction Company Limited, said he is ready to execute the work diligently, ensuring it is completed on time and handed over to the authorities.
He further assured that all renovation works will be done in accordance with the Bills of Quantities to guarantee quality.
While officiating at the launch, the Rukungiri Assistant RDC, Dickson Muhoozi, challenged contractors to always work in line with the Bills of Quantities to ensure quality results.
He urged the authorities at St. Gerald’s Secondary School to closely liaise with the contractor to ensure that the renovation work is properly done.
Muhoozi also encouraged the school authorities to use the opportunity of having renovated buildings to boost academic performance.
