The South Ankole Diocese Bishop, Rt. Rev. Nathan Ahimbisibwe, has urged Christians to protect themselves against vices and sinful ways in the increasingly risky environment by donning the “helmets of salvation,” which may protect them from earthly cravings.

Preaching during a pastoral visit service at St. John Ruhanga Parish, Itojo Archdeaconry, on Friday, he said that while the world presents a vast number of challenges, people who have given their lives to God and are within the Holy Spirit never get hit hard. Even when they face challenges, they can easily overcome them.

He cautioned Christians against pretense in salvation, saying this merely gives them the chance to serve in church and some positions but may not save them when they face the reality of greater challenges. He added that many people are hiding in the church only to become greater sinners.

During the visit, at least 120 Christians were confirmed in their faith.

Bishop Ahimbisibwe further asked Christians of the Itojo Archdeaconry to forget the fight they initiated challenging the powers to join the South Ankole Diocese and instead focus on improving their household incomes, churches, and schools in the archdeaconry, especially by growing coffee and fruit trees. He thanked elder George Bashukwa of the parish for nurturing him into salvation over 40 years ago.

The head of laity, Steven Murefu, highlighted the recent development trajectory of the parish, attributing it to the guidance of Bishop Ahimbisibwe.
