Six deacons from various regions within Kabale Diocese, representing three Christian groups, were ordained as priests on Sunday. These new priests are now tasked with spreading the word of God in Uganda, Africa, and globally.

The ordained priests include: Fr. Anacklet Asiingwire (Spiritan Fathers), Fr. Philemon Byomuhangi (Spiritan Fathers), Fr. Alex Muhwezi (Montfort Missionaries), Fr. Innocent Kanyesigye (Congregation of the Apostles of Jesus), Fr. Christopher Niwagaba (Congregation of the Apostles of Jesus), Fr. Mugabe Robert (Congregation of the Apostles of Jesus).

Bishop Calist Rubaramira emphasized the significant roles of priests, such as celebrating the Mass, administering sacraments, praying for the sick, providing counsel to the distressed, and promoting development through educational and health initiatives in their respective communities. He also urged Christians to support their faith leaders and pray for guidance for priests and church leaders.

According to the new appointments, Rev. Fr. Anacklet Asiingwire will serve in France, while Fr. Philemon Byomuhangi has been assigned to Mexico under the Spiritan Fathers. Rev. Fr. Alex Muhwezi from the Montfort Missionaries will serve in Kabuyanda Parish within the Mbarara Archdiocese in Uganda.

State Minister for Finance and General Duties, Hon. Henry Musazi, commended the church for partnering with the government to promote development. He encouraged Ugandans to embrace agriculture, industrialization, and ICT to foster innovation. He also praised Bishop Rubaramira for his dedication to increasing vocations within the diocese, noting the annual ordination of new priests. Musazi challenged the newly appointed priests to be exemplary representatives of Kabale Diocese and Uganda.

Several notable figures, including Kabale Municipality MP Nicholas Kamala, Woman MP for Kabale Catherine Ndamira, Ndorwa East legislator Winfred Niwagaba, Woman MP for Ruhanga Prossy Akampurira, and MP for Rubanda West Hon. Kamuntu Moses attended the ceremony.
