Police in Sheema District have apprehended an individual on suspicion of murdering a 52-year-old man.
The incident occurred between the 15th and 16th of June 2024 at Kangole Cell, Rugazi Parish, Masheruka Sub County in Sheema District.
The victim has been identified as John Mayombo, aged 52, a peasant residing in Kabusye Ward, Masheruka Town Council, Sheema District.
According to reports, the deceased was last seen intoxicated at Elias’s bar in Kangole Trading Center. He left the establishment to find a bodaboda to take him home. However, on Sunday morning, his lifeless body was discovered in a concrete trench within Kangole Trading Center.
Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as David Mwebaze, also known as Wakame, who resides at the same address.
Tumusiime added that the deceased’s body was found lying face down in the concrete trench beside the road in the trading center.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to Kabwohe Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.
