Police in Sheema District have arrested 40 year old on allegations of assaulting and murdering his child.
Marcial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson identified the suspect as Octavius Ndyabarema 40years a resident of Kangole Village, Kashanjure Parish, Kyangyenyi sub-county in the Sheema District.
Tumusiime further identified the deceased as Martin Ndyabarema a juvenile aged 15 and a resident of the same address.
It’s alleged that on 4th July 2023, the suspect, suspected his son to be stealing his coffee from the garden, and he grabbed him by hand and started caning him seriously using a big stick.
The deceased managed to escape from the father and ran to the neighbor for rescue.
According to Natukunda Judith, 40 years a resident of Mukundane village Masheruka town council in the Sheema District who reported the case to police said the deceased stayed at the neighbor’s home Ashaba Caroline for three days but complained of serious pain in the chest, stomach, and the ribs.
This forced the stepmother to decide to take the deceased for treatment at a life care clinic in Kanyeganyegye he was admitted until 12 July 2023 when he was referred to Mbarara regional referral hospital for further medication and he was handed over to the father, but while on the way to home to prepare to go to Mbarara, the child died.
Tumusiime said the body of the deceased was conveyed to Kabwohe health center IV for postmortem
