Persons who studied in seminary schools have been urged to uphold integrity and embody the values and reputation instilled during their formation.
The call was made today, Saturday, 26th July 2025, by Murebe Methodius Muhanuka, the CEO of the Parliamentary SACCO, while officiating at Patron’s Day celebrations and a fundraising event for the completion of the examination hall at St. Karoli Lwanga Seminary Secondary School, located in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
Murebe Methodius Muhanuka, an alumnus of St. Paul’s Seminary, emphasized the importance of associations among seminary alumni and cautioned against vices such as alcoholism and lack of vision, which contradict the core values of seminary education.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Julius Turyatoranwa, the Dean of Nyakibale Deanery and main celebrant of the day, praised the leadership at St. Karoli Lwanga Seminary for promoting discipline and achieving significant infrastructure development within a short period. He urged students to embrace the values of seminary education.
Rev. Fr. Deus Tweyongyere, the Rector of St. Karoli Lwanga Seminary, encouraged students to focus on their studies in order to earn quality academic certificates that will benefit their future.
Rev. Fr. Mathias Kwehangana, the Vice Rector of the Seminary, appealed to parents and well-wishers to support the construction of the examination hall, which is crucial to meeting Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) standards. He noted that while the Seminary is under the care of the Bishop, it is not easy for him to shoulder all the financial responsibilities alone.
The fundraising event raised UGX 27,342,800 (twenty-seven million, three hundred forty-two thousand, eight hundred shillings) and 20 bags of cement.
