NAMIREMBE:

Renowned leadership coach and public speaker, Mr. Samuel Bakutana has been elected by Diocesan Fathers Union leaders to be their interim Executive Committee Chairman.

Mr. Bakutana, who hails from Buyanja sub county in Rukungiri district is the CEO of Inspired Leaders International and Fathers Union Chairman St John’s COU Kamwokya – Diocese of Kampala was elected today during a Provincial Fathers’ Union strategic meeting held at Namirembe Guesthouse in Kampala today.

During the same meeting, a committee of eminent persons from different regions from the Province of Church of Uganda were elected.

These include; Richard Christopher Tusibira from Busoga Diocese and Wasagami Peter Gidongo from North Mbale Diocese (Eastern Region), Wilber Naigambi from Namirembe Diocese and Richard Semanda from Luweero Diocese (Central Region), Rev. Adonia Kibangira from North Kigezi Diocese and Lay Canon Edward John Isingoma from Bunyoro Kitara Diocese (Western Region) and Lay Canon Dralega Onesimus from Madi West Nile Diocese and Okodi Christopher from Lango Diocese (Northern Region).

While commissioning the newly elected interim executive committee, the Archbishop of Church of Uganda The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu appreciated them for accepting to serve the Lord despite their busy schedules.

“I know you are all busy people. But remember, God has never called lazy people. All disciples were extremely busy people. Peter was a fisherman, Luke was a professional medical Doctor, Paul was a philosopher, Mathew was a tax collector and many others. When God wants His mission done, He calls busy people. Go and serve.” Archbishop Kaziimba said.

He added, ” When you serve God, you leave Him with no choice but to bless you. He calls ordinary people to use ordinary objects for extraordinary purpose.”

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Bakutana pledged to drive Fathers’Union towards spiritual vibrance, economic empowerment and social influence.

He commended Archbishop Kaziimba for offering exemplary leadership in championing the plight and discipline of fathers and the boy child.

Today’s meeting according to Mrs. Barbara Mugisha the Provincial Mothers Union and Family Life Ministry coordinator was to come up with men’s ministry goals and objectives, strategize on how to increase men’s participation in ministry and in the making of the constitution that addresses their unique needs, to share success stories of Fathers’ Union in different Dioceses among other objectives.

The Provincial Secretary Rev Canon William Ongeng and the Provincial Mothers’ Union President, Lay Canon Dr. Ruth Senyonyi attended the strategic meeting.
