In preparation for the upcoming celebration of Mary’s Day on Sunday, April 28th, 2024, the Mother’s Union at Rwanyanja Church of Uganda, within the Bugangari Archdeaconry of North Kigezi Diocese, on Friday held a joyous and prayerful day.

During his sermon at Rwanyanja Church of Uganda, Reverend Ronald Natuhwera, the Father’s Union coordinator for North Kigezi Diocese, urged Christians to invite Christ into their homes, emphasizing that He is the cornerstone for bringing peace and happiness to households. He encouraged women to find ways to bring their partners to church so that they could grow closer to their faith.

Rev. Natuhwera advised the public to refrain from behaviors such as alcoholism and sexual immorality, urging them instead to mend their relationship with God.

Madam Celda Mugarura from Emmanuel Cathedral, who led the day’s training, urged Christians to live with pure hearts, filled with love, forgiveness, and the divine mercy of God through prayer. She emphasized the importance of respect, communication, intimacy, and shared financial goals within families.

Describing love, reconciliation, and forgiveness as fundamental tenets of true Christianity, Mugarura called on family members to distance themselves from domestic violence, which often leads to destructive decisions. She highlighted the toll domestic violence has taken on families and urged people to accept Jesus into their homes to foster peace.

Mugarura also cautioned against alcoholism, citing it as a source of confusion that often leads to domestic violence.

Sister Jane Bangowaki, the head of the Mother’s Union at Rwanyanja Church of Uganda, urged married couples to prioritize prayer as a means of expressing their feelings and needs to God. She emphasized the importance of faithfulness in maintaining family peace and encouraged couples to seek forgiveness when necessary.

Bangowaki challenged Christians to purify their hearts, welcome God into their homes, and prepare for a holy celebration of Mary’s Day. She also urged them to avoid behaviors that could lead to domestic violence during the festivities.

Additionally, on the same day, Christians participated in various activities, including planting fruit trees around the church. The Mother’s Union also organized a friendly football match with the Father’s Union, which ended with a 1-0 victory for the Mother’s Union.
