The Kisoro-Based Businessman, Valence Kibyeyi, who recently faced arrest in Rwanda, has celebrated his freedom with a heartfelt thanksgiving ceremony organized after his release by the Rwandan government.

Earlier this year, Abel Bizimana, Chairman of Kisoro District LCV, through Niwagira Michael Kaguta, known as Toyota, the National Chairman of the Team Chairman MK project petitioned Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations to negotiate with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda for the release of Valence Kibyeyi.

According to Bizimana, Kibyeye, who deals in African Fabrics alias “Bitenge” was arrested and detained in Rwanda about two and a half years ago for alleged tax evasion.

During the thanksgiving ceremony, held at his residence in Mubuga Trading Center, Nyagicyebe village, Nyakinama Sub County yesterday, Valence Kibyeyi chose not to delve into the details of his time in prison, citing security concerns for his businesses. Nevertheless, he extended his gratitude to everyone who played a role in his release, whether through prayers, political efforts, or other means.

Among the attendees were his family members, including his mother, new wife, and brother, all of whom expressed immense joy at his return. They had previously lost hope of his safe return.

During the thanksgiving service, David Munyakabere, a lay reader from Nyarubara Catholic Church urged fellow Christians to consistently set aside time and resources for thanksgiving, as a way to show appreciation for the blessings bestowed upon them by God.

Munyakabere acknowledged the divine protection that Valence Kibyeyi had experienced during his time in jail and commended his unwavering faith. He encouraged other Christians to draw inspiration from Kibyeyi’s example.
