Francisco Ssemwanga has called upon the Rotarians to promote basic education and literacy as the only way to increase the Rotarism spirit in the communities in Uganda.

District governor Rotarian Ssemwanga noted that prioritizing basic education and literacy will lead to social and economic transformation for underprivileged people and communities saying that it is a source of empowerment.

He made remarks on Wednesday during the Rotary Club Ntungamo Fellowship and his visit to assess the club’s educational projects held at Ntungamo Resort Hotel Ntungamo Municipality.

DG Ssemwanga commended the president Rotary Club Ntungamo Rotarian Pastor Erick Abaasa and club members for initiating a school project for Kyarwehunde community primary school aimed at supporting the less fortunate in the Kafunjo- Mirama Town council and surrounding communities.

However, urged them to be good stewards and members of action on the ground noting that the Rotary Club is for those who sacrifice for hope.

The president of Rotary Club Ntungamo Rotarian Pastor Erick Abaasa highlighted several projects which have been done since 2009 when the club was chartered including the Wash project, training of club members, and extending water to Kagugu and Bugangari health agriculture improvement projects among others.

Rotarian Pastor Abaasa hailed the DG Ssemwanga and Rotary club members for their cooperation and above all service above self which has enabled them to reach communities.

He tasked the members to mobilize for membership if the club’s vision is to be realized and to participate in the forthcoming Rotary cancer run scheduled for August 27th, 2023 at Kyamate playground.

 During the same district governor visit and fellowship, two members were inducted including Jesca Kyokunzire Agaba and Dina, and Rotarian Owakubariho Lazarus and Rotarian Luyimbazi Boaz were recognized as outstanding performers.

In his vote of thanks, Rotarian Luyimbazi Boaz thanked the Rotarian for hosting the Rotarian Francisco Ssemwanga district governor and pledged commitment to serve the club.
