Rwampara Woman Member of Parliament, Molly Asiimwe, has announced her withdrawal from the 2026 Rwampara District Woman MP race following reconciliation meetings with the First Lady and Minister of Education, Janet Kataha Museveni, and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa.

Asiimwe, who had sought re-election after losing the NRM flag to Anna Kansiime in the primaries, had earlier contested the results, citing irregularities, vote rigging, and insecurity.
Speaking to her supporters, NRM officials, and local leaders at her home in Rugando, she explained that her decision was guided by the core values of the NRM—unity, cohesion, and prioritizing the party’s stability.

She urged her supporters to remain calm and support efforts that promote peace and development in the district. Asiimwe also pledged her full support to Anna Kansiime, the duly elected NRM flag bearer.

Her withdrawal now sets up a two-candidate contest between NRM’s Anna Kansiime and the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer, Sarah.
