A row has erupted between Rwampara district chairperson Richard Owomugasho and Rwampara East Member of Parliament Julius TusiimeKaruhanga over the loading Fee along the roads in the district.
Last week, Karuhanga directed authorities in Rwampara to remove checkpoints and arrest whoever was found asking for the loading fee on matooke, Waragi, and charcoal among other products from the district along the road.
He followed President Museveni’s directive in April this year where he suspended all loading fee checkpoints.
Karuhanga said that anyone involved in staging roadblocks to collect taxes from businesspeople should be arrested.
However, the district chairperson Richard Owomugasho accuses the legislator of enforcing a directive without consulting other district leaders.
Owomugasho said the district is likely to lose 400 Million from local revenue which may affect their budget.
Meanwhile, Police in the Rwampara district led by DPC Steven Kamar carried out a district-wide operation and arrested several people who were collecting loading fees along the roads.
