State Minister for Animal Industry, Bright Rwamirama has urged Ugandans to drink more milk for good health.

Ugandans fall short of the World Health Organization’s recommended dairy consumption, with each person consuming only 64 liters of milk annually, instead of the suggested 200 liters per head.

According to Rwamirama, this discrepancy is attributed to both affordability and limited awareness of milk’s significance.

Rwamirama says they are aiming to increase milk production and increase awareness about the significance of taking milk among other initiatives.

Uganda produces 3.4B of milk every year of which approximately 800MLtrs are exported to the East African Market.

Meanwhile, Uganda is targeting other countries to boost its milk exports like North Africa, and the Middle East among others.
