The 39-million-shilling, 6.5-meter-wide Rutenga-Muramba-Rugyeyo road project is nearing completion, with a call for residents to help preserve it.

According to Ainembabazi Broosa, the councilor for Rutenga Sub-county, the road construction was launched on January 22, 2025, to address long-standing infrastructure challenges. He emphasized that the poor state of the road had previously caused significant difficulties for the community.

The project aims to improve infrastructure, enhance transportation, and boost essential services in Rutenga, Muramba, Rugyeyo, and neighboring areas. Once completed, residents can expect better transport links, increased economic activity, and an overall improvement in living conditions.

Broosa expressed confidence that the road’s completion will have a positive impact on the local economy and daily life, especially during the rainy season, when poor roads have been a major challenge.

He urged residents to take care of the road, particularly cautioning lumberers against working along the roadsides, as this disrupts water channels. He also advised against manually digging junctions from the main road, stressing that feeder roads should be constructed by the contractor to prevent damage to the main road and its drainage system.

Additionally, Broosa encouraged residents to embrace communal work (Burungi Bwansi) to help maintain the road and ensure its longevity.
