Christians at Rusheshe Church of Uganda, Buhunga Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese in Bwanda Parish, Buhunga Sub County, Rukungiri District, are celebrating the revival of religion in their area.
Recently, Christians discovered witchcraft materials, including a living sheep, hen, cow legs, and other items, in the bush near the Church and burned them.
Christians expressed gratitude, saying that the extra prayer schedule is encouraging them to repent, part ways with witchcraft, and enhance their service to the Lord.
John Erick Matibi, a resident of Rusheshe and Christian at Rusheshe Church of Uganda, attributed the incident to strong evangelism and Sunday’s touching sermon, which may have affected one of the area’s known witch doctors and Christians of Rusheshe Church of Uganda.
Jack Byamukama, a retired Community Development Officer (CDO) and area resident, expressed gratitude for the disposal of the materials, recommending that they should have used the Church to burn them at no cost, rather than suspected witch doctors. He also condemned witchcraft for hindering development.
Rev. Joseph Tugume, the Parish Priest of Rusheshe Church of Uganda, confirmed they burned the materials without fear, emphasizing that the Church has achieved its mission of fighting the devil. He criticized the survivor for not involving the Church in the renewal.
