The body of a Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier Adrian Tumwesigye who was shot dead in the Karamoja region is expected to be laid to rest on Thursday.
Adrian Tumwesigye is a resident of Nyamiyaga A cell, Kazindiro Parish, Bugangari Sub County, Rukungiri District.
The family of the deceased was informed by the GISO Bugangari Sub County Amini Onzo who received a phone call from the force.
According to Amini Onzo, the cause of the death was not yet revealed but the UPDF told him to inform the family of the late Adrian Tumwesigye to prepare his sendoff service expected on Thursday 24th August 2023.
According to Ampaire Aguripina, a biological sister to the deceased, unconfirmed information reaching them indicates that the deceased was shot dead in the company of other officers trying to combat cattle rustlers in the Karamoja region.
Efforts to get a comment from the UPDF spokesperson were futile as his known phone number was off by the time of filing this story.
