The North Kigezi diocesan bishop Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe on Wednesday baptized Nyaburondo church of Uganda under Kasoroza parish in Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry St James Nyaburondo church of Uganda following the resolution that was made by the parish council members of Kasoroza church of Uganda.
The bishop was assisted by Diocesan secretary Rev Enock Karamuzi and Ven Elidard Kashanje the Archdeacon of Nyakagyeme Archdeconary among other clergy.
Bishop Asiimwe said that according to the church of Uganda, a church is baptised and allowed to perform all church rituals therefore Nyaburondo church of Uganda was worth being baptised and called St James because it had all the credentials that are needed to become a holy church.
He explained that their church is worth becoming a parish because it has a well-constructed church, a priest’s house, and a church school among other things which are considered before a church is given a parish hence urging them to work hard and be a parish soon.
Bishop Asiimwe further asked Christians to use their church for prayer, rather than holding them in people’s homes.
He said this will reduce the tendency of some individuals who start small churches originating from overnights
Ven Elidard Kashanje the Archdeacon of Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry thanked the bishop for accepting their invitation and baptising their church hence asking the Christians of the newly baptised church to work hard to become a separate parish since the bishop has already commended them.
According to Justus Bwita the head of the laity of St. James Nyaburondo church of Uganda, their church started in 1935 with its first lay leader the late Yakobo Iburabustya.
Bwita told the bishop that their church land is well measured and titled to protect it from grabbers and that they constructed a commercial house in Kasoroza town which gives church revenue among other projects.
He said as a church, they are now looking forward to adding more efforts in completing the construction of their church school to enable them to have a complete primary level because they have a nursery section up to primary two classes.
