Following complaints from members of the Rukungiri Revival Development Organization (RURDO), alleging poor accountability and funds mismanagement by their leaders, the Minister for Security, Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, has once again called for a special audit of the organization’s financial reports. This decision comes after the accused leaders rejected the report presented to them today.
The financial report, disclosed at Palm Royal Hotel in Rukungiri municipality, revealed a total of UGX 333,808,793 missing without proper accountability. The accused committee members contested this report and requested a more thorough audit. Their request was granted, and the next audit is scheduled for completion within one month, involving the accused members to eliminate potential excuses.
The subsequent report will be shared with all members during a general meeting immediately after its release. Gen. Muhwezi urged members to be patient and assured them of financial support once the issues are resolved, contingent upon members’ willingness to continue with the organization, albeit with changes in the committee.
Patrick Natukunda, also known as JJ, disputed the accuracy of the presented report, attributing accountability issues to organization members who failed to repay loans. While acknowledging some missing funds, JJ argued that the auditor made mistakes, necessitating a revisit of the books for another audit. Patrick welcomed the minister’s resolution, along with the presence of Members of Parliament, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the Chairperson LC5 Rukungiri, and other attendees at the meeting held at Palm Royal Hotel today.
