Pilgrims from Rukungiri have made significant progress, covering 70% of their journey, as reported by their group leaders. James Mucuguzi, the leader of Christ the King parish Rukungiri, mentioned that they have reached Mpigi district and are still full of energy to complete their pilgrimage.

They’ve been grateful for the support received from various individuals, including politicians and clergy, such as Minister of Security Hon Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi, Hon Mary Paula Turyahikayo, RDC Rukungiri Steven Nsubunga Bewayo, former Rukungiri district chairperson Andrewson Katebire, and the current chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama, among others.

Similarly, Jackson Ahimbisibwe, leading pilgrims from North Kigezi diocese, expressed their determination to finish the journey despite encountering challenges like swollen feet and injuries among some pilgrims.

They’ve been receiving first aid along the way, allowing them to persist. Financial constraints have also been an issue, but the pilgrims are pooling their resources to ensure everyone can complete the pilgrimage.

Having spent the night at Buwama in Mpigi district, they remain confident about reaching Namugongo on time, appreciating the support from various individuals, including Hon Elisa Rutahigwa, Hon Fred Turyamuhweza, Roland Kaginda, District Woman MP Medius Kaharata, and Bob Rugonde, among others.

Hon Mugume Roland Kaginda, the former Rukungiri municipality legislator, encountered the pilgrims from Rukungiri and was impressed by their resilience and determination to continue their journey.
