The Rukungiri District NRM Elections Officer, Mr. Mugarura Kiiza Johnson, has urged NRM supporters in Rukungiri District and the Kigezi region to participate in the party membership display and update exercise, which began today, Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Mugarura encouraged NRM members to verify if their names are included in the National Electoral Commission (NEC) voters’ register. Those who are not registered should take the opportunity to register to ensure they can vote in the upcoming elections.

Additionally, the NRM has made its membership register available at the village level, and Mugarura urged people to confirm their details for a smooth process during the upcoming elections.

For those who missed the registration update in March last year, and for students who were away at school, Mugarura assured them that this is another opportunity to register and vote for the NRM flag bearers in the upcoming primary elections.

This exercise, which began today, will run for only three days. The following day will be dedicated to public auditing, where officials will verify the accuracy of the information recorded during the update.

Mugarura also cautioned politicians intending to transfer individuals from one area to another for registration purposes to secure votes for their own interests. He emphasized that this is illegal, and anyone involved in such actions will face legal consequences.

He further warned those who might be manipulated by politicians to register in areas where they do not belong, stating they too would be held accountable under the law.
