Police in Rukungiri ins investigating the circumstances surrounding an accident that claimed the life of a 43-year-old employee of North Kigezi diocese
Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesman says the accident involved motor cycle registration number UFE 774 F Bajaj boxer red in color ridden by an unidentified individual who was rushed to an unknown health facility for treatment and a passenger by the names of Akankwasa Irene 43 , wife to Rev Benson Akankwasa of Kitazigurukwa COU, resident of Omukamuri cell Nyamayenje ward southern Division Rukungiri municipality/ District.
Irene Akankwaasa was working with Compassion International
She died on the spot and her body was taken to Rwakabengo health center mortuary for postmortem.
Maate explains that the accident occurred at around 10:00 am on Monday morning along Katabushera when the motorcycle the two were riding on developed brake failure as it navigated the steep slope towards Bugangari
The scene was visited, and the fateful motorcycle parked at Cps Rukungiri pending IOV inspection.
